Neben dem rechten Antisemitismus ist auch der linke kein neues Phänomen, wie etwa ein Rückblick auf die Karriere der RAF und ihrer Protagonist:innen lehren kann. Doch gerade in akademischen Milieus hat er auf erschreckende Weise an Akzeptanz gewonnen, insbesondere nach dem Massaker des 7. Oktober 2023. Wird den israelischen Opfern häufig mit Empathielosigkeit begegnet, so gilt der Kampf gegen die Terrororganisation Hamas Aktivist:innen oft als Genozid. Manche Positionen mögen naiv und unreflektiert sein, andere sind bewusst perfide. Die Disziplinen Architektur und Stadtplanung lohnen eine nähere Untersuchung, weil es im Israel-Palästina-Konflikt seit jeher um territoriale Fragen gibt. Kritik an der Regierungspolitik Israels ist legitim, so wie das Existenzrecht Israels außer Frage steht. Warum haben sich aber die Diskurse in der letzten Zeit verschoben? Welchen Einfluss besitzen die postkolonialen Debatten des globalen Südens? Und wie liesse sich trotz allem eine fruchtbare Debatte jenseits einer extremistischen Polarisierung führen?

English:On the Situation in Architecture

Alongside right-wing antisemitism, left-wing antisemitism is not a new phenomenon, as a look back at the career of the RAF and its protagonists can teach us. However, it has gained acceptance in academic milieus in a frightening way, especially after the massacre of 7th October 2023. While Israeli victims are often met with a lack of empathy, the fight against the terrorist organization Hamas is often considered genocidal by activists. Some positions may be naive and unreflective, others are deliberately perfidious. The disciplines of architecture and urban planning are worth examining more closely because the Israel-Palestine conflict has always been about territorial issues. Criticism of Israel‘s government policy is legitimate, just as Israel‘s right to exist is beyond question. But why have the discourses shifted in recent times? What influence do the post-colonial debates of the Global South have? And how can a fruitful debate be conducted beyond extremist polarization? (Text: Hubertus Adam)
