Stephan Trüby discusses „(Modern) Architecture and its Discontents“ with Beatriz Colomina, Sam Jacob, Xavier de Jarcy, Tania Mancheno, Michaela Melián and Tazalika M. te Reh. As its title’s allusion to Sigmund Freud suggests, the panel discussion focused on the suppressed, the violent, and the uncanny side of Modernism’s seeming rationality. Specifically, the panelists discussed three major discontents which are only beginning to find their way into the discourse on (Modern) Architecture: Modernism’s entanglement with totalitarianism, with racism, and with sexism.

The panel discussion „(Modern) Architecture and its Discontents“ concluded the International IGmA Symposium „Index of Modern Architecture“ on 1 July 2022 at Weißenhofsiedlung, Stuttgart.
