Michaela Melián is professor of Time-Based Media at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HFBK) in Hamburg. She initially trained as a musician before studying Fine Arts in Munich and London. In her work, she develops multilayered fields of memory using objects, photography, film, music and text. She refers to her method as a “politics of memory”. In 2019, she was invited by Staatsgalerie Stuttgart to participate in the group exhibition “Weißenhof City” and developed a site-specific work at Le Corbusier’s and Pierre Jeanneret’s semi-detached building.

Michaela Melián's short talk on „Memory“ was part of the International IGmA Symposium „Index of Modern Architecture“ on 1 July 2022 at Weißenhofsiedlung, Stuttgart.
